- Ready-mix concrete
Ready-mix concrete, batched in Aubrey.
Six standing mixes from 3,000 to 6,000 psi, weighed to ASTM C94 tolerances and hauled on Hill Mix trucks to pours across Denton and Collin counties — Denton, Prosper, Celina, Little Elm, Frisco, McKinney and the towns in between.

Six concrete mixes, from footings to warehouse floors.
Every design is proportioned to the job — exposure, placement method, finish and schedule all move the numbers — and submitted on a mix design sheet for your engineer before the first truck leaves the plant.
| Mix | Strength | Use it for | Spec | Recycled coarse aggregate |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| HM‑3000 | 3,000psi | Footings, foundation walls, thickened edges, fill. The load that leaves the gate most days. | ¾ in coarse · 4 in slump · non‑air | Up to 100% |
| HM‑3500 AE | 3,500psi | Driveways, sidewalks, patios, curb and gutter — anything that will see a freeze and a de‑icer. | ¾ in coarse · 4 in slump · air‑entrained 5–7% | Up to 100% |
| HM‑4000 | 4,000psi | Slabs on grade, structural footings, tilt‑up panels, light commercial. The workhorse. | ¾ in coarse · 5 in slump · non‑air | Up to 100% |
| HM‑4500 P | 4,500psi | The pump mix: walls, columns, congested reinforcement and elevated decks, designed to go up a 4 in line without segregating. | ⅜ in pea gravel · 6 in slump · mid‑range water reducer | Up to 75% |
| HM‑5000 F | 5,000psi | Warehouse and industrial floors. Fiber for crack control in place of welded wire. | ¾ in coarse · 5 in slump · 4 lb/cu yd macro fiber | Up to 50% |
| HM‑6000 HE | 6,000psi | Fast‑track slabs, post‑tension, precast beds and cold‑weather placement. | ¾ in coarse · 5 in slump · high‑early, 3‑day | Up to 30% |
Slump measured at the point of placement per ASTM C143. Air content per ASTM C231. Cylinders cast per ASTM C31 and broken at 7 and 28 days per ASTM C39. Low‑shrinkage, integral‑color, lightweight and flowable‑fill designs on request.
What concrete mix do I need?
Your plans or your engineer’s specification always win. Without either, this is where most jobs start — and if yours isn’t on the list, tell us what you’re pouring and we’ll write the mix.
- Driveways, sidewalks, patios, curb and gutterHM‑3500 AEAir-entrained, so the surface stands up to a freeze and a de‑icer.
- House slabs and slabs on gradeHM‑40004,000 psi at a 5 in slump. The workhorse.
- Footings, foundation walls and fillHM‑3000The everyday structural mix, unless your plans call for more.
- Pumped walls, columns and elevated decksHM‑4500 P⅜ in pea gravel and a 6 in slump, built for a 4 in pump line.
- Warehouse, shop and industrial floorsHM‑5000 FMacro fiber for crack control in place of welded wire.
- Fast-track, post-tension, precast, cold weatherHM‑6000 HEHigh-early strength at 3 days.
Concrete delivery runs on a 90‑minute clock.
ASTM C94 gives a load 90 minutes or 300 drum revolutions from batching to complete discharge, whichever comes first. Everything about how we schedule works backwards from that number.
- 10cu ydRear‑discharge drums, loaded to 9 cu yd on the road.
- 3cu ydMinimum load. A short‑load charge is quoted when you book, never discovered on the ticket.
- 45minHaul radius from the plant, roughly 35 road miles. Farther with a retarder, agreed at booking.
- 5min / cu ydUnloading allowance. Standby after that is metered by the minute and printed on the ticket.
Tell us your placement rate in cubic yards per hour and we space the trucks to match it — a pump crew at 40 cu yd/hr and a wheelbarrow crew at 6 don’t get the same interval. In hot weather we chill the water and ice the batch per ACI 305; in cold weather we heat the water and accelerate per ACI 306, and we’ll move your start time to protect the pour. Every truck is GPS‑tracked and the ETA is texted to whoever is running the pour. Washout comes back to our yard, not onto your slab.

How to order ready-mix concrete.
- 01Tell us the pourStrength or use, cubic yards, pour date, job address, and anything the truck has to get through to reach the forms.
- 02We write the mixDesign, admixtures, slump at the point of placement, and how much recycled coarse aggregate your specification will carry, on a mix design sheet for your engineer.
- 03Book the slot48 hours ahead for anything over 20 cu yd. Same day when the plant has a window — ask; the answer is often yes.
- 04We batch and haulWeighed to ASTM C94, loaded, and on the road with the ETA texted from the yard.
- 05You get the paperA ticket per load with the actual batch weights, cylinders if you want them, and break results emailed at 7 and 28 days.

Concrete made with crushed concrete.
The coarse aggregate in a Hill Mix load can be rock we crushed ourselves from demolished concrete — up to 100% on our standard mixes, less as the design strength climbs.
The higher the strength, the more conservative we get, because a recycled mix that misses its break isn’t recycling, it’s a callback. Every aggregate we batch, quarried or recycled, is graded to the same ASTM C33 envelope, and the percentage your specification will carry is written on the mix design sheet.
Ready-mix questions, answered.
How much does a yard of concrete cost?
It depends on the mix, the size of the load and the haul, so we quote every job. Email the strength or what it’s for, the cubic yards, the pour date and the job address to sales@hillmix.com. Any short-load charge is quoted when you book.
What is the minimum order?
3 cubic yards. If a short-load charge applies, it’s quoted when you book, never discovered on the ticket.
How many yards does a concrete truck hold?
Our rear-discharge drums are 10 cubic yards. We load them to 9 cubic yards on the road.
How far do you deliver?
About 35 road miles from the plant in Aubrey, roughly 45 minutes: Denton, Little Elm, Prosper, Celina, Frisco, McKinney, Lewisville and the towns in between. Farther with a retarder, agreed at booking.
How much notice do you need?
48 hours for anything over 20 cubic yards. Smaller pours can often go the same day when the plant has a window.
What concrete mix do I need for a driveway?
Usually HM-3500 AE: 3,500 psi and air-entrained, so the surface stands up to freezing and de-icers. Your plans or your engineer’s specification take priority.
How long do I have to unload?
Five minutes per cubic yard is included; standby after that is metered by the minute and printed on the ticket. The concrete itself has 90 minutes or 300 drum revolutions from batching under ASTM C94.
Can you cast test cylinders?
Yes. Cylinders are cast per ASTM C31 and broken at 7 and 28 days, and the results go to whoever signed the ticket and to the engineer of record.
Is there recycled aggregate in your concrete?
There can be: up to 100% recycled coarse aggregate on our standard mixes, tapering to 30% at 6,000 psi. The percentage your specification will carry is written on the mix design sheet before anything is batched.
What happens to leftover concrete in the drum?
It comes back to our yard, is washed out into our own reclaimer and is crushed with everything else in the back yard. Returned concrete becomes next week’s aggregate.

Send us the pour.
The strength or what it’s for, the cubic yards, the pour date and the job address. A mix design sheet comes back the same day.
